FOREWORD
When Townshend Audio's Rock Reference player was demonstrated by Professor Jack Dinsdale during a lecture on Analogue and Digital Sound he gave in 1992 at London's Royal Institution (where Michael Faraday had first demonstrated voltaic electricity over 100 years before) an informal straw poll showed that an overwhelming majority of the 450-strong audience preferred the sound of LP albums to that of Compact Discs. Here, the designers of the Rock series of gramophones describe the thinking behind their latest product, The Rock V.
