The VALHALLA digital interconnect represents another advance by
Nordost in producing a reference digital cable of stunning performance
and astonishing detail. This new cable utilizes a more advanced
'Dual Micro Mono-Filament technology' which improves upon the
Mono-Filament technology we have already developed.
Micro Mono-Filament Technology
VALHALLA Digital cable uses our proprietary 'Dual Micro Mono-Filament'
which greatly enhances audio / video performance. The surface
of each conductor is highly polished before a precision Dual Micro
Mono-Filament is wrapped around it. This technology uses two FEP
Mono-Filament threads wound around one another. These dual Mono-Filaments
are then drawn around the conductor in a very precise helix pattern,
this introduces more air space around the conductors and insulation
contact with the conductors is reduced by more than 85%. Each
conductor has 78 microns of extruded silver over solid 8N OFC
cores which has a FEP tube extruded over the Mono-Filament. In
the 75 ohm version one conductor is used and in the 110 ohm version
two conductors are bonded together. A double layer of served shielding
is then applied around the cables.
No Filtering
The cable has an effective dielectric constant of 1.38, which
is incredibly low, the reference point being air or a vacuum,
which has a dielectric constant of 1. The reduction of insulation
contact by more than 85% means that the current and digital signal
travelling above the surface of the conductor are virtually unimpeded
by the insulation material. This means that jitter and timing
errors are virtually eliminated. The result is a cable that allows
every transient detail of the musical signal to shine through
without being filtered or rolled off.
Very Wide Bandwidth
The VALHALLA interconnect has an extremely wide bandwidth which
extends way beyond the upper limit of the audible range at 20
KHz into the Gigahertz range. When it comes to transmitting wide
bandwidth at incredible speed this cable is state of the art.
This speed and extremely wide bandwidth ensure that no errors
are introduced into the digital signal.
Very High Signal Speed
This interconnect has a very high signal speed of over 87% the
speed of light which reduces phase shifting and timing errors
to very low levels. The incredible transient response of VALHALLA
means that no musical detail is lost and that complex passages
of music and difficult recordings can be followed with ease.
Terminations
VALHALLA Digital interconnect cable are hand built in our factory
in the USA and are available with 75 ohm RCA or BNC connectors,
or gold plated 110 ohm XLR connectors. The connectors used are
selected for their sonic properties and their impedance matching
characteristics which have a minimal effect on the digital signal.
