TECHNIQUE AND INNOVATION. Nordost cables excepting the Micro Monofilament and Moonglo products share a common design theme, Solid Core Conductors. Depending on the application, either solid, flat rectangular OFC conductors or fine, round micro litz conductors are used. By using a precise extrusion of Teflon® around the individual conductors we eliminate strand interaction, which significantly reduces the well documented audible distortions caused by skin effect and magnetic field interactions. Nordost cables use extremely precise conductor spacing which keeps the capacitance and inductance at a very low level, resulting in cables which typically transmit signals at over 90% the speed of light. This is 25-30% faster than conventional cables which is audible as a tremendous improvement in musical accuracy and clarity. Nordost have also developed a new construction technique which dramatically reduces the effect that the cables insulation has on signal transmission. This important development is called Micro Monofilament Technology (patent pending) and is featured in our reference Quattro-Fil interconnects, Silver Shadow digital cable, Optix video, Shiva and Vishnu power cords. Nordost Flatline preterminated loudspeaker cables and interconnects
are hand crafted in the USA using a proprietary formula of high
grade silver solder. Although Nordost loudspeaker cables are available
with spade connectors we highly recommend the use of our Z plugs.
This tight fitting, low mass 4mm banana plug is made from Beryllium
copper which is hard gold plated. The low mass design preserves
the low capacitance and inductance characteristics of the cable
at the termination point and minimizes signal reflections back into
the cable. Nordost cables are manufactured using extruded Teflon® and are consequently extremely durable. Able to withstand huge temperature extremes, being impervious to liquids and chemicals and being friction resistant means that they can be installed in areas where no other cables can be used. The use of extruded Teflon® preserves the conductors so that they are unaffected by mechanical vibration, and unlike other cables, are not degraded by the oxidation of the conductors over time. Nordost cables will give you a lifetime of superb performance and come complete with a limited lifetime warranty. THE INSTALLATION SOLUTION. Nordost cables such as 2-Flat, 4-Flat, Flatline Gold MKII and Super Flatline MKII are perfect solutions for difficult installations. These cables can be easily folded to fit around corners when surface mounting, or run under carpets in ‘high traffic’ areas. You can even install them in walls by making an incision with a utility knife, sliding the cable in sideways and covering with joint compound and then painting or wallpapering over it.
